Boarding school Thien An
The founders of Live and Give have financed with the help of a few sponsors the construction of a boarding school/orphanage in Vietnam. The size of the school is about 2000 m2, of which roughly 1200 under roof.
More than 80 children, of which many orphans, are being provided with a home and an education at our house. Our mission is to provide a stable and caring environment within which the children are given the best possible start in life. The boarding school has been opened in Januari 2010. In 2010 we have extended the school twice.
We work in conjunction with the ‘ Saint Paul de Chartres’ order of Vietnamese Catholic nuns who have worked tirelessly for many years to improve the lives of the less fortunate. They currently administer to the running of three boarding houses and provide free housing, food, clothing and education for some five-hundred children who would otherwise be without hope of a decent start in life.
Most kids from the school belong to an ethnic minority, called the Jai rai. From the age of 3, the kids are being tought the Vietnamese language and basic social skills. From the age of 6, the children have to attend a public Vietnamese school nearby. We keep on helping them with extra lessons, homework, English lessons and how to work on the computer. It is our intention that as much kids as possible graduate from high school and intend to keep on helping them after graduation to get a university degree or to get some kind of a trade or craft .
We assist the nuns with the management of the house and various other charity projects. Any help from donors, whether financial or otherwise, is hugely beneficial to those people who are most in need of support. Administration costs, travel expenses and alike will be covered by ‘Live and Give’.Therefore, all donations will be spent entirely on the charity itself.
