Kindergarten opened for minority kids
The kindergarten in Pleiku has been opened. Forty kids are already daily residing.
The kindergarten is built for minority kids from 3 to 6 years old . The kids will be taught the Vietnamese alphabet, the first Vietnamese words and the most essential social skills like going to the toilet, speak with two words etc.
Also kids from poor Vietnamese families are welcome. The school will have a capacity of about 100 kids and will be run by the nuns from Saint Paul the Chartres. Unlike the existing boarding school Thien An the kids will only stay at the kindergarten during day time. Since the parents are very poor the kids stay for free.
Live and Give has donated 30.000 USD to the nuns in to finance the construction.
The location of the new kindergarten is just outside Pleiku near the highway to Qui Nonh. This is a place where thousands of minorities live in poverty. Since they do not speak the Vietnamese language, they face huge difficulties in attending schools, finding decent jobs, let alone buying property in the country they have been living for centuries. The nuns are doing a great job by helping these people. They are building a bridge between the Jai Rai minority and the Vietnamese society. Since the fight against poverty starts with education we help the nuns as much as we can.
