Visit to leprosy colony Xa Gao
Xa Gao is a collection of 20 huts inhabited by 20 families of which most people suffer from the results of leprosy. Although the bacterial infection has been cured with these people, they are mostly severely deformed and too old and handicapped to work.
Since there is no social security in this part of Vietnam, the people from Xa Gao as well as many others living in similar places in this province totally depend on help from the nuns. We are helping the nuns regularly by buying food packages and also by building water wells and toilet facilities. With the help of Mr. Jason Neiman we also bought the nuns a Toyota 4WD in order to reach these remote hamlets.Needless to say that the arrival of our car is always warmly welcomed by these poor people.
Three kids who are staying in Thien An, Ro Lang Hung, Siu Den and Siu Tu, come from Xa Gao. They never had been to school until joining Thien An in the summer of 2010. They all three thoroughly enjoy their new home and are doing there utmost best at school. Ro Lang Hung and Siu Den have past the last school year with excellent results and Siu Tu just entered grade 1 from the public school last month.
We are very gratefull to the sponsors for helping us making this happen.
